So, I went back to school to take care of that and Wow! it looked like an amusement park there! The Parker Fire Dept. was there with two trucks pumping water for the festivities, kids and adults in swim suits and shorts having a good time. Too bad I had an appointment at 9:00 a.m. and couldn't stay!
That's okay, I'll hear all about it when they get home this afternoon. Hopefully we applied enough sun screen this morning!
On to the paper crafting~
A couple of my girl friends came over yesterday and we made 24 candy dishes for the bridal shower this weekend and a center piece for the desert table. Shirley and Ashley put together the candy dishes and I had a fun idea I wanted to try for the center piece. The bride is a florist so I wanted to make paper flowers for her and I'm quite happy with what I created.
We used the mega scallop circle punch for the candy dishes, punched out different patterned papers in purple. The colors for her wedding are purple and green. Next we attached them to the clear plastic candy dishes with double sided tape so they'd look like a flower when they were filled with candy.
I used the scraps from the patterned paper to make the flowers in the pot. I cut some strips to make flowers out of and used my Sizzix dies for some of the others. I attached my flowers to 1/8" dowels and stuck them in a block of florist's foam and piled some Easter grass on top to finish it off.

Maria is celebrating 500 plus e mail subscribers with blog candy! There are a couple different ways to enter. For a link to her blog click here.
Here's my entry for the contest. I wonder how many times a girl can enter?
I used the "shimmer" technique here again. That dragon fly needed something special. This T.A.C. stamp set has waited patiently for 3 years now and I finally used it. I was just never sure what to do with it and put it away and forgot about it.
Anyway, I "shimmered" the white watercolor paper, white tag and white brads. Stamped the dragon fly image with Noir Black Palette ink and then watercolored it using my watercolor crayons and aqua painter. I outlined parts of the image with a Stampin' Write marker next. The cardstock colors are Taken With Teal, Elegant Eggplant and White. Inks are Elegant Eggplant, White craft ink, and Noir Black. Accessories - Dotted organdy ribbon, Circle punches 1" & 1 1/8", Ticket corner punch, brads, round paper clip turned white with white craft ink and white embossing powder and a tag from one of my Sizzix dies.

I thought I'd share a few layouts from the scrapbook with you. Her dress was pink so I used Pretty in Pink and White for her book. You'll see blank tags and lines, she's going to do her own journaling in her handwriting.
I love making my own paper using background stamps and Stampin' Around wheels. I have pretty designer paper but forget to use it because I get busy making my own! Everything matches perfectly this way too. You might notice on this layout above that I used some of the netting I cut off her dress on the pages.
We decided on an 8 x 8 format for this scrapbook. I really like the size, it fits real well with rubber stamping and incorperating those background stamps I love.
I noticed she said to link any cards we'd made to her blog she'd like to see them. Here's the address http://stampalicious.typepad.com/my_weblog/ so you can check it out!

The technique is called "shimmer" and it's really neat.
I must say before I go any further that this is a CASE. I'm sorry I can't remember who I CASEd to give them credit now, in fact I'm pretty sure this is a CASE of a CASE! If you're not sure what a CASE is, I can clear that up right now - Copy And Share Everything!
The shimmer technique is where you take a travel sized bottle of pump hair spray and add about 1/4 of a teaspoon of Pearl Ex powder to it and shake it up. Spray it on watercolor paper and let it dry, then stamp your image on it.
My favorite Pearl Ex so far to do this with is Micro Pearl. Oh, I also recommend doing the spraying part outside, lol. I demonstrated this technique at one of our Stampin' Up! Demonstrator meetings, there were 5 or 6 of us and we about killed each other with the fumes.

I thought today I should tell you a little bit about myself and where I live.
I live in Parker, Arizona. It's a very small town in western Arizona on the Colorado river. It's a resort town and this weekend it really shows. We have a very small population but on holiday weekends we have visitors from the "big cities" in California come in to play on our river. The local people get their groceries early and hide out all weekend. Our normal everyday lives resume Tuesday morning. Sounds like a good weekend for stamping to me! I've lived in this area 25 years now and grew up about 45 minutes away in Lake Havasu City.
As for me personally, I'm a work at home Mom with 3 kids. I have a 17 year old son, a 7 year old daughter and 5 year old son. My working at home consists of making cards and scrapbooking for people. I love being able to be home with my kids and work at my own pace, it's very rewarding. I love the Lord and I'm involved with lots of stuff at our church too.
Life is fun!
