My Little Garden by The Paper Shelter

I have another card to share with you today that's for the Operation Write Home Spring Thaw card drive.

I used SC#314 as my layout, it's been a great sketch for mass producing cards for the card drive. The cute "springy" image is from The Paper Shelter, it's a precolored digital image and I stamped "thinking of you" under the image from a Papertrey Ink stamp set.  The purple gingham was from the scraps by my paper trimmer and I also used Neenah Solar White, Neenah Red Linen and Mohawk Via Violet.  Oh, and a Sizzix embossing folder on the white panel for added interest.

Bug A Boo Stamps Tulip

My card today isn't even a card, it's an ATC (Artist Trading Card)!  Our challenge that starts today at Bug A Boo Stamps Catch The Bug is to make an Artist Trading Card, how fun!

I used the Tulip from the Flower Blocks collection, colored it with Copic markers Y13, Y15, Y18, R24, R27, YG11, YG15, YG17 cut it out and matted the image on Stampin' Up! Summer Sun added a strip of embossed Neenah Red Linen and a panel of Via Vellum Leaf Green and one last layer of the SU Summer Sun.  Now I need to get busy and make 20 more for our swap.

I hope you'll stop by Bug A Boo Stamps Catch The Bug challenge blog to see what our other fabulous design team has made and to enter into our fun challenge.

Romantic Mailbox by The Paper Shelter

Operation Write Home is having a Spring Thaw card drive!  OWH is challenging card makers to send in a box of half spring holiday cards along with the other half to be general cards.  As of today we only have 30 days to get those cards to our shippers.  You can read all the details here.

You know how much I like a challenge and you also know how much I love Operation Write Home so I'm accepting the challenge!

Before I got started on this project yesterday I noticed that my scrap pile beside my paper trimmer was getting a little out of control.
Maybe that's not the best view but you get the idea!

I decided I needed to use some of my scraps for my cards so I thought it would be fun to show you the process.  It's not the only way to make cards using your scraps but it's my process.

I sorted through the pile and came up with smaller piles of papers and card stock that would go well together.  All the patterned papers you see here are digital papers that I've printed and have left overs of.

This is the pile I decided to work with first.  This cute digital image is from The Paper Shelter, I thought it would be perfect for cards for Operation Write Home.

I also decided on a sketch to make this project easy to mass produce.  This one is from Splitcoast Stampers SC314.

All my panels are cut along with the matting layers and I have one laid out but nothing is fasten down yet.  I put the white panel through the Cuttlebug with the Swirls embossing folder.

I thought this might be an important step to show you.  I use a piece of Stampin' Up! grid paper that I had laminated and then cut to fit in my Scor-Pal to work on at the table.  I have the Scor-Pal mat but sometimes it's color is a problem for me.

Anyway, you'll notice that the right side and bottom of this card front are lined up with the grid lines.  I then added the strip with the hearts and used the third line from the bottom of the card to keep that strip straight.  After I fasten the strip down I'll trim off the edges.

Here are the three cards I was working on "in the process".

Getting pieces and parts fastened down in the process.  You'll see some of the supplies I've used.  I stamped "missing you" under the mailbox using a Papertrey Ink clear set.  I also wanted to point out the white half sheets of card stock under the blue on top of the roll of foam tape.  Those are the card bases.  I like to make card fronts and attach them to a nice 80# cover weight card stock so our heroes have plenty of room to write a letter home on.

The quality and weight of the card stock we use is important for our Operation Write Home cards too.  When I think of how far my cards for Operation Write Home travel it boggles my mind.

Here's a travel itinerary for you.  Starting point my house in Arizona, next stop Sandy in Washington, next stop Iraq or Afghanistan, next stop back to the United States to a soldiers loved one.

I'm sure you can see why using good quality supplies is so important.  Our cards do a lot of traveling and need to be well made because I'm sure they'll be a treasure to someone back home.

Here's my three finished cards, I hope you enjoyed the "process" as much as I did!  I hope you'll join in the "Spring Thaw" card drive for Operation Write Home too.

I know, I'm weird!  But it's a fun kinda weird!

It's Oldie But Goodie Thursday at Catch The Bug, for my card I used one of the cute monkeys in the Birthday Monkey collection.  I colored the image with Copic markers to match my digital paper I found recently at My Grafico.  Copic markers - YG01, YG093, W0, W1, R27, RV25, RV23, E42, E43, E44, E74, E71, E70, RV00.

Doodle Pantry Bunny Friends

There's a new challenge going on at Operation Write Home Stars & Stamps starting today!  The challenge is to make cards for our heroes to send home to their kids!  Sounds like fun to me!

I made a collection of cards using this pre-colored digital image by The Doodle Pantry about a week ago.  This Bunny Friends set is part of collection for a fundraiser to help my friend Katie who has cancer. I think the set is perfect for making kids cards.

Jak of Jakheath.com is having this fundraiser, there are several digital stamp sets being offered in a collection for sale, all proceeds will be going to Katie and her family.  My card today are just a small preview of what Jak is offering for a donation of 15 pounds which is approximately $23.00 US dollars.

Michelle Perkett Studio Mary Margaret Valentine

Have you started making your Valentine cards yet?  I've been thinking about my kids Valentines for their classes, do they still do that in 5th grade?  I know my 4th grader will need some, he has his sister's teacher from last year.

Today's card might be a nice one for my daughter.  I used Michelle Perkett's Mary Margaret digital image and modified her just a little.  She's really holding an apple in her hands but these hearts from a Quickutz die work well.  I added Stickles and then covered it with Glossy Accents after the Stickles dried a little.

Mary Margaret is colored with Copic markers E44, E40, RV02, RV00, E00, E000, E44, E47, E49, E31, I used a Spellbinders heart and scalloped heart die to cut her out and matte her.  The little hearts above her are the left over from a Taylored Expressions heart border die I used on a different card, the embossing folder is made by Sizzix, the ribbon is by May Arts and I'm pretty sure the border punch I used is by Martha Stewart.  The papers are Neenah Solar White, Neenah Red Linen & Papertrey Ink Hibiscus Burst.

The challenge today over at our Michelle Perkett Studio blog is "All That Bling", I think I'll go enter my card!

Do you know what day it is?
It's the "other" Monday when our Stamps R Us challenge team has a new challenge for you!  Our team from Stamps R Us are challenging you to make a card or project with an animal on it and our prize sponsor is Sew Many Cards.  For all the details please visit the Stamps R Us challenge blog here.

For my challenge card I used Sew Many Cards Oliver Owl digital image.  He's colored with Copic markers C1, C3, C6, W1, W3, G0000, B21, B24, B28, E42, E43, E44, E51, E53 cut out with Spellbinders rectangles and scalloped rectangles dies, the card base is Stampin' Up! Brilliant Blue and I used Stampin' Up! Brocade Blue and Neenah Solar White.  The sentiment was made on my computer, punched out with a Stampin' Up! Word Window punch and matted on a Spellbinders Fancy tag and the snowflake embossing folder is made by Sizzix.

Do you have time today for a cute kid with puppy picture?

Michelle Perkett Studio Birthday Flower Cupake

For my card today I used Michelle Perkett Studio Happy Birthday Flower Cupcake digital image and some newly discovered digital papers from My Grafico.  I colored the digital image with Copic markers E42, E43, E47, Y13, RV00, RV02, RV04, RV13 and cut it out.

The layout is SC314 from Splitcoaststampers up ended.  I attached the cupcake to a panel of cream linen and stamped "happy birthday" from a Papertrey Ink clear stamp set.

Have you ever wondered about Hybrid cards?  I actually looked up "hybrid" at dictionary.com and didn't get a clear answer as to what I was thinking - card making hybrids.  So here's my definition:  the combination of two different yet similar art forms in the same creation, i.e. rubber and digital stamping.

And then there are those cards I've been having so much fun making using pre-colored digital images and digital paper.  Are those hybrids or are they just a print job?

It's all fun and games until someone like me starts asking silly questions!

We have a sketch challenge going on at our Michelle Perkett Studio challenge blog you still have time to play in!

Challenges:

Bug A Boo Stamps Polar Bear

Happy Saturday!

It's challenge day at Bug A Boo Stamps Catch The Bug, the challenge is "Winter White".
I used the cute Polar Bear from the December Digi Collection for my card.  I colored my Polar Bear with Copic markers G0000, C00, BV0000, BV000, BV02, cut it out with a Spellbinders Octagon and a scalloped octagon die.  I chose a simple layout and used a Sizzix Snowflake embossing folder layered onto cream linen cardstock, stamped "winter wishes" and cut it out with a Spellbinders ribbon die, matted it again with cream linen cardstock and tied it all up with white organdy ribbon.  It was a pretty quick and simple card, maybe I'm getting the "clean and simple" idea after all!

I hope you'll stop by Bug A Boo Stamps Catch The Bug challenge blog and enter into our Winter White challenge!  There are prize packages for winning entries you'll have to go over there and check it out!

We're celebrating our first birthday all week so there's an "Anything Goes" Mini Challenge today too!

For my card I used today's free image and the layout is from a card I saw on one of the challenge blogs as I was browsing challenges last week.  Now I'm sorry I didn't pay more attention to who made it or what blog I was at.  I really liked the layout and wanted to try it too.

This cute bee image is colored with Copic markers T5, T3, T1, Y11, Y13, Y15, BG10, BG11, BG13, Goooo.  The papers I used are Via Vellum Lemon Yellow, Basic Black and Cardinal White.  The polka dotted paper is digital paper I printed.  It was black and white and I re-colored it so it would be yellow and white.  I also used Spellbinders circles and scalloped circles dies.  I printed the Hap-bee Birthday, it isn't exactly the one that comes with the set but I got as close as I could all on one line!

Michelle Perkett Studio Puppy Love

I have two blog posts again today!

We have a sketch challenge starting today at our Michelle Perkett Studio challenge blog!  I made my card using the sketch with Michelle's Puppy Love digital image.

This cute pup is colored with Copic markers E42, E43, E44, R21, R22, R35, R37 cut out with a Spellbinders square die and matted with Kraft cardstock on another square.  The other cardstocks are Stampin' Up! Cameo Coral, Thepapermill.com's Cranberry and Neenah Solar White.  The little tag is from a Spellbinders die and the sentiment is from one of my Papertrey Ink stamp sets.  I added a button to the tag after enhancing it a little with my R37 marker and threaded some crochet thread through it and tied a tiny bow.  The embossing folder is new to me it's the Stampin' Up! lattice made by Sizzix I've been wanting but been too cheap to buy!

My friend Dagmar brought it to me yesterday morning along with a bunch of other goodies.  One of those goodies was a mini sewing machine I can't wait to play with.  It's good to have crafty friends!  Thank you Dagmar!!!

Doodle Pantry Bunny Friends

My cards today are for a fundraiser for Katie Renz.  I met Katie through Clear Dollar Stamps, she's one of our fabulous design team coordinators. Katie was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer less than a month ago and we as her friends are trying to help with some of she and her families needs.  You can visit Katie's blog for her story and updates about her journey.
Please keep Katie in your prayers.
I used a pre-colored digital set by The Doodle Pantry called Bunny Friends for my cards today.  The one above is going to Katie with a note inside.  My sentiment is computer generated and does not come with the set.

My next card is for my birthday card stash.  It was wonderfully quick and easy using the pre-colored image and Basic Grey Bittersweet patterned papers. The birthday sentiment does come with the set and there are several more!
Jak of Jakheath.com is having a fundraiser for Katie, there are several digital stamp sets being offered as a collection for sale including the one I used today, all proceeds will be going to Katie and her family.  My two cards today are just a small preview of what Jak is offering for a donation of 15 pounds which is approximately $23.00 US dollars.

It's Oldie But Goodie Thursday at Bug A Boo Stamps Catch The Bug!  For my contribution I used the pre-colored image Ribbon Bear, my layout is a modified sketch that I can't remember where I saw it.  The pre-colored bear isn't available anymore but the line drawing digital image is, there's actually an entire collection you can see these cute bears and bunnies at the Bug A Boo Stamps online store.  I hope you'll stop by Catch The Bug today to see all the other fabulous Oldie But Goodies our design team has for you as well as read all about our first birthday celebration blog hop extravaganza coming very soon!

Edited to add:  Carrie asked where I got the embossing folder, it's made by Sizzix.  I'm sure I can be purchased at any number of online stores.
