Have you ever started working on a card with the best of intentions and it just didn't come out the way you planned? That's what I was experiencing earlier today.
Here's my story... Michelle Perkett Studios is having a design team call until August 15th and part of the way to enter is to make a card with the freebie she's posted. I'd love to be on Michelle's design team so my plan was to make a card and enter!
I'm sure you're wondering about the picture above too. Cheryl who is one of the design team members for La La Land Crafts made a shaker card last week using packaging you'd normally throw away and I thought it was a great idea and wanted to try it too. I decided I'd use the clear plastic rectangle from the "post it" markers package.
It was challenging and fun but I have static cling! lol, check it out:
I sized my image to fit the box, printed and reprinted the image on patterned paper so I could paper piece my cake. I found just the right Nestabilities dies to fit around the box, came up with a layout... I even wiped the inside of the plastic box with a Swiffer cloth before I poured the micro beads in. The dirty looking patches on the clear part of the box are micro beads stuck to the inside. The kids took a magnet and moved the micro beads around but they always went right back to where they were when the magnet was removed. Very interesting!
I do have some pictures of the progress of putting in new windows. Rick's project went a lot smoother than mine it seems and I can't wait to have my space back!
Can you see my desk all covered in plastic?
It's really hard to work like this...
A light sanding of the drywall and he can paint!
All the light from the two new windows is wonderful blessing!
All in all, it was a good day, I hope yours was too!
I love this card Jan even with the magnetic personality it shares with the atmosphere! Your cards are always so gorgeous! You have a wonderful clean look to them and you don't overdo it with the embellishments. I'm so in awe of your talent especially since you put it towards good work with OWH! Thanks for helping us spread the word & helping on the blog! Good luck with Michelle's DT! You're definately on my list!!!
