Happy Memorial Day!

My card today is my last as May's guest designer for Stamp Fairy.  It's been a super busy month with design team assignments and our kids are out of school now, I'm kind of looking forward to June and life slowing down just a little.  I'm not sure if that's even possible!

This card was so fun to make, the Stamp Fairy challenge blog has a sketch for us this week.  I don't usually make square cards because most of my cards go to Operation Write Home and they like A2 sized cards.  I think I'll use this one for an Any Hero card since it won't have to travel quite as far as the others. 

I colored my Independence Bear with Copic markers B97, B95, B93, B91, C6, C3, R29, R27, R24, E44, E43, E42, E41.  before I printed this image I added a sentiment directly below it because the sketch called for a long narrow panel.  This sentiment is digital Word Art from Elegant Word Art by Bethany.  I used my Spellbinders Circles dies for the circles under the stars.  The stars are from an old favorite punch of mine.  I can't believe I said "old favorite punch" - I'm NOT a fan of punches, I tend to break them.  The cardstock colors I used are Neenah Solar White & Red Linen, Carnival Navy & Kraft, the ribbon is last years from Michaels and I used the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug embossing folder.

Stamp Fairy Betsy

I had so much fun making my card today!

It's for the "It's My Party" challenge that starts today at Stamp Fairy.  

I printed Betsy on Neenah Solar White 80 lb. cardstock and set her aside.  Next I printed a small piece of Cow print digital paper by Sassy Designs and my sentiment from Create With TLC on a sheet of Mohawk Bright White.  

Betsy is colored with Copic markers T5, T3, T1, C2, C1, C0, 100, YG67, YG63, YG61, E25, E99, B0000 and I used the tip to tip method for her nose with R20 & R000.  The sky background was created with B000 a little shading under the clouds with C0 and a Q tip dipped in Isopropyl Alcohol. 

I cut out the balloons with an old Quickutz die and the tag is by Spellbinders.  I needed (wanted) black cord for the balloons so I used my Copic 100 marker to color the white crochet thread I have.  Attached the balloons to the tag and put it on my card.

My other cardstock colors are Via Vellum Black & Stampin' Up! Blush Blossom.  The layout is Operation Write Home Stars & Stamps sketch #22 slightly modified to work with the elements of my card.

Stamp Fairy Indendence Bear

My card is for the newest challenge that starts today at the Stamp Fairy challenge blog, our theme this week is to use three embellishments. 

For my card I chose to use one of Gerda's Independence Bears.  Would you believe she told me she knew I was going to find the Independence Bears and want to use them?  She knows me too well already!  I colored this cute image with Copic markers thinking I wanted a "blue jean" bear.  Copic markers B99, B97, B95, B93, B91, R39, R27, R24, Y18, Y15, C2, C1, C0, C00. 

My layout is kind of out of necessity because I wanted to incorporate red, white & blue and use that last sheet of Stampin' Up! Summer Sun.  The frame I made for around my Independence Bear is a digital image from Whimsy Stamps that I recolored in my Publisher program and printed, the sentiment is also a digital by Create With TLC that I recolored to match the navy blue.  The frame is cut out using Spellbinders Labels 3 and circle die.  For the three embellishments I had stars in mind.  I cut three red stars with my Spellbinders die and added buttons to them to make my own embellishments.

Muffin by Stamp Fairy

I have another challenging um I mean challenge card to share with you today!  The new challenge at Stamp Fairy World is a sketch and I have to say once again I was challenged.  But as you know I like a good challenge! 

When I saw the sketch I had this cute image of Muffin in my mind using the "out of the box technique" and thought I had it all wrapped up.  Muffin is colored with Copic markers BV0000, BV000, BV02, Y13, Y15, Y18, R20, E44, E43, E42, E41, C6, C3, BG0000 and my layout if of course the sketch that I've posted below.

The papers I used are Nut Brown, Stampin' Up! Summer Sun & Lovely Lilac and Neenah Solar White.  I added Stickles Ice to the star and Muffin's wings and then coated them with Glossy Accents to seal in the glitter.  Most of my cards go to Operation Write Home so I'm in the habit of sealing the glitter and I like the shine too.  The rectangle panels are cut with Spellbinders rectangle and scalloped rectangle dies and the sentiment is from Create With TLC.

Stamp Fairy Patsy Shaker Card

I have a card to share with you today that  was a three day process to put together, what drama!  

Before I get to my story I'm very happy to tell you I'm a guest designer for Stamp Fairy for the month of May, I love Gerda's cute digital images - how fun!  

The challenge today at Stamp Fairy World is to make a shaker card.  I thought, no problem I've done this before!  

Oh my was I wrong...

I had a plan before I got started to use this cute digital "rain" paper by Sara at The Sherlocks Home, printed everything I needed and colored Patsy with my Copic markers, B95, B93, B91, B12, Y18, Y15, Y13, E49, E59, E57, E55, T1, T2, E00, E000, R21 and cut her out.  She's also printed on the rain paper so I wouldn't lose any of Gerda's rain drops.  

I wanted the puddle under her feet to look wet so I applied Glossy Accents, set her aside and made my shaker box with  Spellbinders rectangle & scalloped rectangle dies and an acetate sheet.  Then my first problem arose, I set the finsihed shaker box on my image before the Glossy Accents was dry, oops...  The Glossy Accents peeled off the inside of the acetate much easier than I expected but there were holes in my shiny puddle.  I applied a little Stickles in the holes and some extra around them and left it to dry.  Not bad but still noticeable so I applied a little more Glossy Accents and walked away.

The next morning I decided it was time to put this all together.  I marked the back of the shaker box so I could line up the image perfectly when I put it together, poured the micro beads inside and carefully peeled off the foam tape I'd used on the back and got my fingers stuck in it.  I noticed the micro beads jumping onto the foam tape, oh no...  After getting my fingers unstuck I carefully placed the image panel on the tape and pressed it down and flipped it over to see how it looked.  My micro beads started spilling out everywhere!  I applied some tacky glue and got a little more messy with it, my watermark is over a glue fingerprint of mine, lol.  Luckily the card body was ready so I stuck my shaker box on, left it flat on the table and quickly took a picture while I still had some beads in it. Hey, this must be the definition of "challenge"...

There's my story, whew what drama for one simple card, lol.  My "mission" is completed and I'm ready to move on to the next project.  I can't wait to stop by Stamp Fairy World and see how the other design team members did, I hope you'll join us!

Toby by The Stamp Fairy

I have more than one blog post today!  

This is my first one though...  We have a new challenge starting today at Stamps R Us, the theme is Easter and our wonderful prize sponsor is Gerda of The Stamp Fairy, I just love her cute digital images!

For my challenge card I used Toby, I thought he was so cute coloring Easter eggs with a paint brush.  I tried some new Copic color combinations with this image.  Toby's body is E11, E13 & E15.  The blue "paint" is BG01 & BG05, the green is an old stand by for me but got kind of darker than I was planning YG11, YG13, YG17.  

I kept my layout very simple to show off Toby.  When I use Toby in the future I'll print him a little smaller I think.  The cardstock colors are Via Vellum Leaf Green, Astro Brights Turquoise, Neenah Solar White & my striped paper is a digital that was in the pile beside my paper trimmer.  Clear Dollar Stamps maybe?

Stamp Fairy Thank You Bear meets Operation Write Home Stars & Stamps Sketch #54 actually...

I keep seeing all these cute images from Stamp Fairy, then discovered the other day through my friend Lisa's blog that they have digital papers too.  I'm there! 

I added a couple of Stamp Fairy's digital paper packs and a cute teddy image called Thank You Bear to my collection.  

My card today uses that cute bear, I thought it would be perfect for my Operation Write Home Spring Thaw Card Drive project so instead of adding a "thank you" sentiment I used a vertical rubber stamp to make it an "any occasion" type of card.  If you're interested in the OWH Spring Thaw Card Drive or would like to learn more about it, click on the badge for it in my sidebar.

I colored the bear with Copic markers Y13, Y15, Y18, R02, R22, R24, E000, E42, E43, E44, YG11, YG13, YG17, C3, C6 and cut it out with a Spellbinders circle die and matted it with another Spellbinders scalloped circle die.  The ric rac die is made by Papertrey Ink and I also used a Sizzix embossing folder.

The layout for my card is Operation Write Home Stars & Stamps Sketch #54.  I liked the idea of using the Stamp Fairy bright plaid digital paper to match the daisy and Jak Heath's Shower of Hearts digital paper to go with the hearts in the focal image.  I matted everything in Stampin' Up! Chocolate Chip.  The pink shades in the bears ears and paws made me think of Stampin' Up! Cameo Coral so I used it.  It's kind of an odd combination of patterns and colors but I like it!

I e mailed Gerda who is the artist and owner behind Stamp Fairy a photo of my card and it's going to be on the Stamp Fairy World blog today, how cool is that?!
