Can You Digi It Henpecked

Wow, it's the last day of July and this is my last card as a guest design team member for Can You Digi It.
It's been fun!

Our kids return to school tomorrow, I can hardly believe it - the time has passed much too quickly.
The house is going to be way too quiet tomorrow but I know I'll adjust as we enter into their 6th and 7th grade routines.

My card today makes me giggle, I can hardly wait to put it in the mailbox!

Our friends from Colorado visited recently and we had such a good time with them.  They are raising chickens and were telling us about how much fun it was.  This digital image from Can You Digi It made me think of them and especially my friend Cindy who was wondering what the chickens were "thinking" and would say if they could, lol.

I colored the Henpecked image with Copic markers:

R35, R46, R59
BV00, BV000
BG0000, BG01
Y00, Y11, Y21, E31, E33

The layout is sketch #14 from Merry Monday,

Card stock and papers are Via Vellum Black, Sorbet Grape, The Paper Mill Aqua, Stampin' Up! Barely Banana, Basic Grey Kioshi designer paper pad & Copic X Press It.  I also used Spellbinders dies, a Cuttlebug embossing folder and and strip of organdy ribbon.

I hope you'll stop by the Can You Digi It blog today and see all the design team eye candy and be inspired to participate in the challenge.

Hambo Stamps Dirty Bird

Happy Saturday!  I have one more Hambo Stamps card I wanted to squeeze in this month using Splitcoast Stampers sketch challenge #395.  I think this is a very versatile sketch and will be used over and over by a lot of card makers!

I turned my card to get everything I wanted to fit using this sketch:

The Hambo Stamps I used are called Dirty Bird and Little Cheeper, I've added links for you.
I colored this cute rubber stamped image with Copic markers:

Background/Water - BG10, BG11, BG23, BG34
Flowers/Hat - RV63, RV66, RV55
Bird - Y00, Y13, Y15, Y17
Grass/Flower Stems/ Brush -YG01, YG13, YG25, Y00
Bird Bath - N1, N3, N5

The patterned papers are from the Cosmo Cricket DeLovely mini deck, I used the Papertrey Ink small ric rac die and fussy cut around the stamped image.  My card is ready to go with a birthday sentiment on the inside, I have one more birthday card for my stash!

Rolodex V524 Jr. Sweet Summertime

Happy Friday, I'm back with another blog post about my Rolodex V524 Jr.

Today I wanted to practice coloring reds with my Copic markers.  I used Papertrey Ink's Friendship Jar & Friendship Jar Summer Fillers stamp sets along with their Desktop File dies.  I stamped the images on the already cut out Desktop File die and went to work coloring.

Some of you might already know I love mason jars and enjoy collecting and using them.

The old mason jars we have are what inspired my color choice for the jar today.

Pictured above is the file card behind the colored image.  I used the Papertrey Ink Desktop File Inspiration stamp set to stamp this and modified it ever so slightly to record my marker choices.  The modification is I drew extra lines to color in using a Copic multiliner.

Here's a close up of the colored strawberries in the jar.

I'll be back next Friday with another idea of how to use these Desktop File dies and the Rolodex V524 Jr.

Hambo Stamps Lightning Bug

I have a bright encouraging card to share with you today!

Our Operation Write Home Stars & Stamps Midweek Throwdown challenge this week is to make Encouraging Cards for our troops to send home to their family and friends.

I used a cute Hambo Lightning Bug rubber stamp for my card and colored it with Copic markers:

FY1, Y11, YG01, FYG02, BG01, W1, W3, W5, C00, C1.

Did you notice a couple of "F's" before the other color numbers?  Those are florescent Copic markers!

I also used a Hambo Stamps sentiment rubber stamp to go with my Lightning Bug, a few different embossing folders, Spellbindders & Cheery Lynn Designs dies and crochet thread.  The carstock colors are Sorbet Ice Blue, Stampin' Up! Green Galore, Astrobrights Solar Yellow and Copic X Press It.

This was a fun image to color and try to blend the yellow/greens, blue/greens and florescent colors together.

We also have a new Hambo Hoedown starting today, all I"m going to be able to tell you is it involves Polka Dots!  You have to go over to the Hambo Hoedown to see the rest of the challenge :)

Verve Wishful Elegance

I've been working on creating a stash of Anniversary cards the last few days.
It's been fun to get out some of my old patterned paper pads, one clear stamp and a few dies and go into mass production mode.  I don't do that very often anymore!

For both cards I used the Pink Paislee 365 Degree paper pad, Spellbinders Hearts & Scalloped Hearts, Papertrey Ink's Double Ended Banner dies and a stamp from the Verve set Wishful Elegance.  The layout is inspired by a card I saw on Pintrest.

Rolodex V524 Jr Whipper Snapper Sweet Sniffs of Spring

I have some new toys I've been playing with and I'm excited to share them with you today!

I've acquired another vintage Rolodex V File from E Bay recently, it's a V524Jr and holds 2 1/2" X 4" file cards.  What really inspired me to do this was seeing Papertrey Ink's June new release.  They came out with dies to cut your own cards to fit these files and a coordinating stamp set.  I splurged and bought both dies, the stamp set and went looking on E Bay for a vintage Rolodex V file.

I have lots of ideas on ways to use my new mini Rolodex so I thought I'd share some of those here on my blog on Friday's till I run out of ideas...

Pictured above is the V File and the labeled cover card for my Copic marker fun, I used the Papertrey Ink Desktop file die to cut out the card.

I had a Whipper Snapper image on a sheet of Copic X Press It that I cut out with the Papertrey Ink Desktop Left File die.  I then had fun and colored it with my Copic markers.

I also used Papertrey Ink's Desktop File Inspiration Stamp Set to record the Copic markers and other info I used on a card that goes behind the colored image.

I gave links to Papertrey Ink for the products I've used, I don't work for them nor am I on their design team.  I just wanted to give you the chance to see where everything comes from and if you'd like to have them too, you can.

I have several Papertrey Ink dies but have found them rather challenging so I'll show you how I've gotten around being challenged by them and we'll have fun using them in the weeks to come.  I love their stamp set that coordinates with these dies but they didn't cover everything I've been thinking so I'll also show how to use your computer to label the cards and cut out digital images too.

Here's a sneak peak of what's on my little file so far.

Digital Delights by Louby Loo Octopus

I have a card to share today using the Digital Delights by Louby Loo Octopus digital image!

I had so much fun coloring this cute image with just four Copic markers, can you believe it?!
I used B0000, B00, B12 & B24, added extra dots with B24 for shading and texture.

My layout is inspired by a June sketch from The Paper Players.

You know how I like my sketches, better a little late than not at all?!

The sentiment is made on my computer, I was looking for something cute to say to a child who might receive this card.  It is going in my Operation Write Home box.  I'm also going to use it for this weeks Operation Write Home Stars & Stamps Midweek Throwdown challenge, the theme is a color challenge using Complimentary Colors.  I won't get all technical about colors on you here because I'll just confuse myself in the process.

I hope you'll stop by our Digital Delights by Louby Loo blog to see all the eye candy our design team has made too!

Hambo Stamps Dress Up

I'm about 12 hours late with my blog post today...

My card is for our Operation Write Home Midweek Throwdown challenge featuring Complimentary Colors.  I picked out this cute Hambo rubber stamp just for this challenge several weeks ago.

I don't like being behind!
Anyway - my stamp is called Dress Up and is  a rubber stamp made by Hambo Stamps.  I colored my cute image with Copic markers:

Dress/Tie/Hat - Y13, Y15, Y17
Shirt/Purse/Hatband - B63, B60
Flowers R35, R46
Hair & Skin - E35, E37, E39, E55, E49, D57, E59, E00, E01, E11
Jacket/Hat - N1, N3, N5
Background - BG000, BG11, BG23

The cardstock colors are Via Vellum Black, Copic X Press It, Hero Arts Bayou, Astrobrights Galaxy Gold, Discount Card Stock Cobalt.  I used a Corner Chomper to round the corners of my image and matting panel and a Papertrey Ink Double Ended banner die.

Be sure to check out the Hambo Hoedown today, it's all about getting Punchy!

Cuddly Buddly Lilyboo Designs Swimming Ducks

I have a fun card to share with you today!

I've been looking at these ducks at Cuddly Buddly and so wanting to color them, they've been calling to me!
This is a digital image called Swimming Ducks I colored with Copic markers:

Water - BG0000, BG10, BG11, BG23
Baby Ducks - Y06, Y18, Y19, W0
Grass - YG21, YG23, YG67
Sky/Outline - B60, B63
Mama Duck - BG10, BG11, Y06, Y18, Y19

I colored the water for this image first because I was unsure of using the blue greens, I like it!  Next was the ducks, I find it amazing that I can color a "white" duck using blue greens.  I used the blue greens on her white feathers to reflect the water.  I hadn't decided on what color the sky should be, I thought blues might look funny with the blue greens so I picked B60 & B63 because they look purple.  I like the way that color combination turned out too.  As an after thought I added reflections of the ducks and grass in the water, very fun!  The reflection of the white duck is my White Gel Pen.

The cardstock colors are Hero Arts Bayou & Hyacinth and Astrobrights Solar Yellow as well as Copic X Press It and Mohawk Bright White.

It's been 118 & 119 degrees the last couple of days in the little town in Arizona I live in so I thought this would be a good time for a cooler weather themed card!  Maybe it will make the extreme temperatures outside today a little more bearable.

My image is a rubber stamp from Hambo Stamps called Skater Girl and the sentiment I made on my computer because she looks so happy!   I colored her with Copic markers listed below, my cardstock choices are Via Vellum Cyan & Leaf Green and Copic X Press It.  I added some texture with a Sizzix Snowflake embossing folder and extra snowflake at the top made with a My Favorite Things die-namics die and the banner die under the sentiment is by Papertrey Ink.  I also used a 1/8" Corner Chomper to round the corners on my white panels.

Cuddly Buddly Liliyboo Designs Giraffe Scene

I have a fun project to share with you today!
I've wanted to get back to my Rolodex Art file for some time now and had the perfect opportunity with a couple of digital images from Cuddly Buddly Lilyboo Designs.  When I first saw the giraffe I thought it was adorable but wasn't sure how I wanted to use it.  I had seen the Safari scene but the idea of coloring it intimidated me.  I finally picked them up at Cuddly Buddly and had a great time creating the scene in my Photoshop Elements & Microsoft Publisher programs.

To make the scene I used the Safari Scene once, then flipped it to make a mirror image so I could maybe merge them together to fit my 4" X 6" Rolodex file card size, it worked!  I then added the cute giraffe to the scene.  As you can see I did have to cut some of the scene off to fit the size I needed.  I have a practice page I printed on copy paper below.  I don't always do this but it's fun to see the image before it comes to life.

In this photo I don't have everything centered, I was hoping I could fit everything in the 6 inch width I had but as you can see it didn't work out.

Here's a view of the Rolodex V file for you.  I've seen a few of these on E Bay recently for sale and was outbid on a really big one by about fifty cents...

Top View

Up close and personal in my photo box.  I had a hard time with the giraffe spots, my marker ink started to pool on top of the paper because I had it over saturated.  I tried scanning this and you could really see it so I scrapped the scanned version.

I have the Copic color numbers for you but not in the order I used them, there were so many green markers on the table half way into this that I can't tell you what I combined with what.  I just tried to remember that objects closest to me are brighter and more vibrant and things farther away were darker and become more muted in color.  So, do you think it worked?  Do the hills seem separated and farther away from each other?

Copic Markers:

YG01, YG03, YG05, YG11, YG13, YG17, YG23, YG25, YG61, YG63, YG67, YG97,

My Copic Coloring Book

It's been awhile since I've shared anything about my Copic coloring book.  I made a coloring book as a reference for Copic color combinations and fun techniques. After going to the Copic Intermediate certification class I've been practicing and recently added another page.

I colored this giraffe by Marianne Walker with my markers.  The giraffe image comes in the Level 2 Copic coloring guide by Colleen Schaan and Marianne Walker.  There is a CD in the book with all the images for you to practice with that they use.  I enjoy trying new and different color combinations, techniques and don't think I would have ever put together this color combination by myself.

Handmade Soaps - Notes From Home

I don't have a lot of exciting pictures or stuff to share with you today.
My pictures are of the soaps I've been making that are curing.  The soaps in the front row are Calendula Soap my friend Dagmar and I made in her Crockpot at her house a few weeks ago.  The recipe we used is for a cold process, we infused the Calendula flower petals in oil in her Crockpot and I just couldn't resist trying the recipe out as a hot process soap.  My only worry was having the Crockpot too full and the soap rising up and oozing out all over her nice kitchen counter top!   Lucky for us that didn't happen.

The second row of soap are the Shampoo Bars I made last month, they're almost ready to use!

We tried a few molds with our Calendula soap, Dagmar had Angel molds for cooking that I thought were cute.  We also used a Pringles potato chip can for a mold.

A view of the top of the soaps.  They are on baking racks and you won't believe where they are resting to cure...  Right below the t.v. in the living room...  Our house isn't real big and that's the only "free" space I could think of to put them.

I do have a quality control inspector who stops by from time to time to put her big nose on them.
The soaps aren't always as lined up and even as you see pictured here today, that's how I know she's done her inspection.  As long as she doesn't steal any and eat them we're good.

Thanks for visiting my blog today, have a great weekend!

Digital Delights by Louby Loo School Boy

It's time for the new release at Digital Delights by Louby Loo today!

My card uses the new School Boy digital image, the School digital paper pack, and the School Sentiment set.  I squeezed all that into one card!

In case you were wondering what happened to the sentiment here it is.  I've been playing with decorating the insides of my cards a little lately.  This one seemed like a natural with the Operation Write Home sketch layout I used mimicking the card front using the digital papers.  I re sized, cropped and layered to digitally decorate the inside of my card.  Pretty fun!

Wax Fruit Company Just The Car

Over the weekend I worked on making masculine birthday cards for our church, I was looking for a clean and simple design that I could easily mass produce times 12.  It looks a little odd to me here because I scanned it instead of bringing out my light box and taking a picture.  I got a little lazy in that respect but scanning cards is kind of scary too, the scanner shows EVERYTHING!

I think another reason it looks odd to me is I'm not used to making clean and simple cards, I don't know when to stop...  I'm actually afraid to handle these cards too much because I don't want any finger prints on them!

The image is called Just The Car from Wax Fruit Company.
It's colored with Copic markers:

Car:  B00, B12, B24
Windows:  YG11, B0000, G0000, Blender
Chrome/Tires:  C00, C1, C3, C5
Tail Lights:  R35, R46, R59
Background:  YR30, YR31
