Digital Delights by Louby Loo Lonely Pups

I have a fun design team card to share with you today for Digital Delights by Louby Loo using Lonely Pups and the Missing You sentiment set.  Both are digital stamp sets.

I've been wanting to color this cute pup from the Lonely Pups digital stamp set and had my chance today.  Instead of making the bench the pup is sitting on a wood tone I thought I'd live dangerously and use a color that intimidates me - VIOLETS!  I've had a hard time blending the violets and blue violet as well as the red violets so it's time to practice and see if I can find some good combinations that work for me.  I have to say that I'm very happy with the way the bench turned out, this could become one of my favorite color combos.

Here are the Copic markers I used E30, E31, E33, E41, YG01, YG03, YG63, YG67, R20, B000, for the bench V12, V15, V17.  I mostly used V15 & V17 on the bench because the V12 was a bit streaky.  

The layout for the card is Operation Write Home Stars & Stamps sketch #26 and I added the Spellbinders Tags Trio tag so I could use the Missing You sentiment.  The button on the tag is from a Cheery Lynn Designs button die and I used a little crochet thread for the bow.  Papers are Via Vellum Basic Black, Leaf Green & Violet, Neenah Sand and Copic X Press It.

Pollycraft Cherry Kisses He Loves Me

We have a new Midweek Throwdown challenge starting today at Operation Write Home Stars & Stamps, our theme is Flowers/Floral, etc.  

I've been feeling a little behind lately so I picked this cute Pollycraft image that I'd colored and hadn't gotten back to.  I was thinking it would make a quick simple card for this challenge.  I was wrong!  I picked a sketch out of my file and went to work.  Have you ever had one of those days where nothing you cut is straight or lines up the way you think it should?  That's what was happening while I was trying to make this card.  The image has a frame around it and I can't tell you how many times I cut around the frame trying to make it straight, then I cut the frame off when I discovered it was the frame that wasn't straight.  

Sometimes being a perfectionist isn't any fun!

My layout is a sketch  from Verve Visual, papers are Mohawk Bright White, Via Vellum Basic Black, Neenah Red Pepper Linen, Stampin' Up! small paper pad from years ago and Copic X Press It.  I used part of a Hero Arts stamp for my sentiment, it actually says "Hello Girlfriend" and a Papertrey Ink double ended banner die.  Miss Cherry Kisses is colored with Copic markers R27, R24, R22, E00, E000, E0000, E44, E43, E42, BV0000, BV000, BV01, YR24, YR21, Y21, G82, G40, R21.

My card is for our Seems A Little Sketchy challenge that starts today and I must say I really like this sketch!  Our sponsor for this challenge is Whimsy Stamps but we needed to use our own images.  I had an e mail Friday morning announcing this freebie at Crafting Bella so I went to take a look and thought it would work nicely for our sketch.  I've also had a thing for coloring fruit lately too!  Win, win...  

I only used nine Copic markers to color the image B63, B60, R59, R46, R35, YG67, YG63, YG03, YG01.  The patterned papers are digital papers that were scraps as well as the ric rak, I did have to cut out the Kwikutz tab from the die.  The sentiment is from the Papertrey Ink Signature Greetings acrylic stamp set.

Hambo Stamps Goat

My card is for the Hambo Hoedown featuring one of their newest images Goat.  The challenge theme is Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.  I've been thinking about that for several days now...  I grabbed the local newspaper off the table and cut into it for my first layer and my recycled element.  

Goat is colored with Copic markers BG10, BG11, BG32, BG34, N1, N3, N5, C0, R20, E70, E71, E74.  I looked at images on Google to see what colors goats really are and was happy to find out they come in a wide variety of colors.  

Part of this challenge was to use one of the sentiments that come with the cute Goat.  I did use their sentiment but edited it and played with it to make it round by following a tutorial for PhotoShop Elements that you can find here.  I added a Cheery Lynn Designs die cut button to the center of my sentiment and threaded crochet thread through the two holes and tied a bow for a finishing touch.

I have a fun card to share today that's inspired by one of my friends.  When I saw this digital image at MayzyArt Stamps I had to have it because this girl looks like my friend Heather!  I hope she's flattered when I give her the card...  The image name is MacKenzie, I think she should be named Heather, lol.

She's colored with Copic markers YG01, YG03, YG23, E000, E00, E02, E04, BG10, W0, R11, R12, R20, R22, B60, B63, B66, E40, E41, E43, E44, E51, E53, E55, E57, B91, B93, B95, B97.  The papers I used are Stampin' Up! Cameo Coral & Almost Amethyst, Via Vellum Basic Black, Copic X Press It and Mohawk Bright White.  I also used long narrow Spellbinders dies and a Darice embossing folder, my sentiment is from Create With TLC.

Peddler's Pack Cherries

I have a card to share with you today that I wasn't sure I was going to be able to save.

After coloring this stamp with Copic markers I remembered I had a patterned paper with cherries on it I thought would go well with it.  The stark white background really stood out with the papers so I decided to re-color the background after coloring it BG000.  I first tried with Y21 and used my blender pen to help smooth the color then went back with YR31 and went over it again removing some of the color with the blender pen.   After letting it dry I went back and dotted the blender pen all over the background to hopefully give it some sort of aged looking pattern.  

The patterned papers are a mini pad by Melissa Frances called Kitschy Kitchen, rather vintage looking.

Hambo Stamps Apple Eaten

I'm playing along in the Hambo Hoedown again this week using their fun Apple Eaten image times four!  

You might be wondering why four?  Well...  that's what "The Bacon Bits" are challenging us with - using four of something on our cards.  It could be embellishments, papers, images, etc., as long as there are four.

The image for this weeks challenge if you played along last is called Candles and if you didn't play along you can buy it here.

I know I always say this but... my card was really fun to make - I was going to color the apples red then decided to do something unexpected and use green, my favorite color.  I colored the apples with Copic markers YG01, YG21, YG23, E44, E42, E40, T3,T5.  The papers used are Copic X Press It, Via Vellum Leaf Green & Basic Black, the patterned paper was printed on Mohawk Bright White Color Copy 110 lb cover stock and is from Digital Delights by Louby Loo's Spring Has Sprung digital paper pack.  I also used a Papertrey Ink scalloped edge die, black grossgrain ribbon and a couple of stamps from the Lil Inker's set Rainbow & Cloud Sentiments.

Notes From Home

One of the things I wanted to do that qualifies as catching up on things I need to do around our house was making peanut butter dog cookies for Maxine.  I found the recipe on Pinterest by Brown Eyed Baker, it looked like it might be quick, easy and fun.  I started working on the dog cookies about a half an hour before Jenny & Michael got home from school in hopes they'd like to join in.  When they came in the door they thought it smelled really good in the house and wanted to try a cookie, lick the beaters, bowl, etc.  I told them to help themselves -  Jenny had to go wash her mouth out, lol, what drama!  

Can you see Maxine in the above picture?  Not my watermark either!

The recipe for you:

Ingredients:
2 cups whole-wheat flour
1 Tablespoon baking powder
1 cup natural peanut butter
1 cup low-fat milk

Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes.

I bought my bone shaped cookie cutters from Amazon and I've also seen them since in PetSmart with the Martha Stewart pet supplies.  I like the smaller size dog treats because Maxine makes less of a mess with them so I went for the smaller size cookie cutters.

OMG What Happend Here?!

I usually do my Wednesday blog post to announce and show my card for the Operation Write Home Midweek Throwdown challenge.  I haven't had the chance to make a card but I can tell you it's a color challenge but I'll let you go find out what colors!

I've been posting about our garden and my potted herb garden, I have an update about that today.  The herb garden is doing well and I'm happy it's portable.  We've had some crazy weather, one day temperatures are in the low 90's and then last night we got a nice wind and rain storm so today the temperature is in the low 60's, later in the week it will be back to the 90's.  Spring time in Arizona, when the weather changes and regulates it will be just plain HOT here so I'm not complaining!

The ice cream carton of seeds have sprouted, I think this is the Bay Leaf...  Maxine tipped one of them over and I had to replant seeds so I'm not sure anymore.  The other ice cream carton with seeds hasn't had anything happen - but Maxine's big nose tip it over yet.

I needed to move the Basil, Spearmint & Thyme closer to the house because of the high winds we've been having.  They have gotten a little bigger and are doing well.  

Look what happened to the lettuce in my husband's covered garden out back, yikes!  When he told me something had eaten the lettuce I said, "darn rabbits found our garden".  He said, "ahh no, I don't think it was the rabbits!"  I guess not!    Luckily there is still time to plant a little more lettuce in a different spot?

Notes From Home

Hello blog friends!

I wanted to check in today to let you know I'm working on catching up on some of my card making as well as other stuff here at home.  My husband Rick had his prostate cancer surgery last Friday so I've been away from home more than usual with his surgery and after care doctors visits.  We live in a small town and have to travel to a larger city about 45 minutes away. 

He had Brachetherapy and is doing well with his recovery and feeling pretty good, I'm very happy to report.  I have a picture of him taken with my phone at the hospital as we were waiting for them to take him into surgery.

As you can see he was in good spirits...

Hambo Stamps Nerd

I have my Hambo Hoedown card that I wanted to share today!

I was delighted to find their cute Hambo Stamps Nerd set in my e mail box Tuesday evening.

I had to wait until Wednesday morning to see what the actual challenge was but that's a good thing, the image can play in my mind for awhile before they give the "what to do with it".  When I looked at the Hambo Hoedown challenge Wednesday morning I saw we are being challenged to use PLAID and/or mix patterned papers, how fun!  

Did I mention I think this image is totally cute?!

I can close my eyes and see my Dad wearing a white shirt with pocket protector and pink plaid Bermuda shorts, lol.  My Mom used a pocket protector too but it was in her purse, looks like my parents were nerds...  and the apples don't fall far from the trees do they?!  Then my mind turns to my sweet daughter, for quite awhile she dressed herself in plaids and stripes or dots mismatching her colors.  When I asked if I could help her she told me she liked it so I stopped asking.  She's a little older now and her "fashion" has changed to that of a proper pre-teen girl.  Thanks Hambo Stamps for a moment of nostalgia - 

About my card - I just had to paper piece the Nerd's clothing and use dots and plaid together but my Cosmo Cricket mini deck patterns were just too big.  I tore the plaid and red & white polka dot papers from the pad and scanned them into my computer and then shrunk them to fit my cute nerd.  After playing in Photoshop Elements and Microsoft Publisher I was satisfied with my "work", I printed him this way and that, cut out the articles of clothing and got to work coloring with Copic markers.  

I used G000, G20, BG70, BG93, BG90, E00, E000, E02, E41, E42, E43, E44, Y17, Y15, Y13, YR16, YR07, T2, C00, C0, W1, W3, W5, W7.  To outline him I wanted to match the blueish patterned paper so I used BG000 then blended it with BG90.  After coloring and assembling the card using my Cosmo Cricket Mitten Weather mini deck I added Glossy Accents to his teeth and glasses for a little extra shine.  Oh, the sentiment I cropped and stretched out on one line to fit my sketch, it actually comes stacked.

Cuddly Buddly's LIlyboo Hogwash

My card is to point you to a "Make 'em Laugh" blog hop at the Operation Write Home Stars & Stamps blog today featuring many well known Craft Suppliers.

As I said the theme is Make 'em Laugh so I used my Lilyboo Hogwash digital image.  This cutie is colored with Copic markers V12, V15, V17, BG01, BG000, B60, E50, R20, R30, R32, C00, C0, C1, C2, C6, W0, W1, YG01, YG03, YG13, YG17, YG93.  My layout is Operation Write Home's Sketch #116 from last Sunday and the papers I used are Stampin' Up! Almost Amethyst, Eggplant Envy, Sorbet Blue Ice, Via Vellum Basic Black and Copic X Press It.

This was a really fun card to make following the OWH sketch, I like how Julie has the measurements written on the sketches for us so I don't need to print them out and measure anything.  I only added one extra element to the sketch with the Spellbinders tag for my computer generated sentiment, I couldn't help myself  (:

Cuddly Buddly Love Birdies

I have a fun card using a Cuddly Buddly digital image today.  I colored the love birds with Copic markers R22, R24, R27, Y13, Y15, Y17, B12, B14, R81, R83, R85, cut it out with a Spellbinders circle then matted it with a Spellbinders pinking circle die.  After that I cut two more Spellbinders circles, layered them and added them.  

Cardstock colors are Via Vellum Basic Black, Astro Brights Galaxy Gold, Turquoise, Stampin' Up! Pixie Pink and Copic X Press It.  I used two Papertrey Ink dies, double ended banners and a ric rac die for the edge of the turquoise panel.  "Tweetheart" is computer generated, I needed something for my double ended banner.  I also used two new to me Darice embossing folders.

Wax Fruit Company Just The Car

We have a new challenge at Operation Write Home Stars & Stamps that starts today!

Our theme is Father's Day and I have my card ready ahead of time.

I've had this digital image from Wax Fruit Company for awhile now, it's actually been minimized on a Publisher page on my computer screen ready to print the perfect size for this sketch.  How's that for a reminder that I REALLY want to use this image and sketch?!  

I'm really happy with the way my card turned out, I love this image and it is perfect for this sketch by Mary Williams too.  I have a feeling that this is one of those sketches that.... well you know!

I used Copic markers to color the image:  BG11, BG23, BG13, C0, C1, BG0000, BG10, YG11, R27, R46, R59, T3, T5, Y000.  I tried something new I learned from Jennifer at Dove Art Studios with the windows.  I used YG11, BG10 & BG0000 in that order to color the windows so they look transparent.  

The papers used are Via Vellum Basic Black, Hero Arts Layering CS Bayou, Neenah Pewter, Copic X Press It.  Three red brads from my hoarded supplies, I haven't used brads in ages!  The DAD is a stamp by CC Rubber Stamps dated 1996.
