A Prayer Request

We took Maxine our 4 month old pup to the vet this morning because she started not feeling well about 4 AM and just wasn't herself.  We came home from the vets office without her.  He did some tests and diagnosed her with Parvo virus.

We asked what we could do for her and took his recommendation to leave her in the animal hospital.  They will put an IV line in her so she remains hydrated and they can also give her needed medications as the virus runs its course.  They can't guarantee she will live through it but they can't guarantee she won't either.  We got her into the vet as soon as possible, we're hopeful she'll be okay so please keep our family in your prayers.  The kids are in school right now and I don't think they're going to take the news very well when they get home.

I pray our cute, energetic, lovable character and friend makes a full recovery so she can grow up into a healthy strong adult dog.

Thanks for your prayers-

Oh Jan, I know what you are going through, I love animals and Boxers are my favorite dog. My daughter has a boxer and while a pup went through a lot with him. You should just see him now big, healthy and full of mischief. Count on all our prayers and she will get better. Camille

Oh my!!! I just found some time to stop by and and catch up and I'm so so to read all about Maxine, but to also know that she is NOW much better and back home. What a huge relief.

I actually have Human Parvo B19 Virus back in the Late 1990, and although it's typically a childhood illness 'Fifth's Disease" and runs it course, we learned, later in life, that it's very likely the reason I likely lost my infant daughter in April of 1991. At that time, however, they did not know of any danger to a pregnant women and I was never treated or even sick, but my oldest son had Fifth's Disease from Day Care and we both test positive for the antibodies, at that time.

Ironically, I also tested with high Antibodies and had a second bout of Parvo B19 again, something very unusual, but NOT unheard of. That time, I ran fevers and felt really lousy for about a week..almost like a bad flu and I remember my hands in particular were very achy almost like a sudden onset of Arthritis...very odd. There are some reports an studies that indicate now that the Parvo virus for me, may have been a trigger illness to Fibro? But, we are not certain? I certainly feel it makes sense? At least, from what I have read about it in some medical articles.

I know it's totally different the the Parvo that animals get, but I also know that virus can often be fatal, so I'm SO happy to know that you sweet little Puppy is home and on the road to recovery!!

You must feel so much relief and I'm so sorry you all had such a scare!
Hugs,
Lis
