Pollycraft Tribute

It's the day before we'll be saying goodbye to Pollycraft, I'm sad to see them go but understand everything changes.  Luckily I have several Pollycraft images to play with!
My blog post today is to pay tribute to Pollycraft and say I've loved your images.

Edited to add...
Good News for Pollycraft, Little Miss Muffet will be selling Paula's images!!  You can read about it in this post http://pollycraftdesigns.blogspot.com/2012/06/cat-is-out-of-bag.html

Pollycraft is having a Farewell Linky Party, inviting everyone to share their Pollycraft cards new or old in new blog posts, here's the info you'll need if you'd like to play:

the party will last until the shop closes on the 8th June...
and is really just a way for customers, fans, DT members and anyone else to share their Pollycraft creations... with everyone else!

unfortunately there arent any prizes... its just for fun.
consider it way to show off your blog, and to discover new blogs...

Pollycraft Cherry Kisses He Loves Me

We have a new Midweek Throwdown challenge starting today at Operation Write Home Stars & Stamps, our theme is Flowers/Floral, etc.

I've been feeling a little behind lately so I picked this cute Pollycraft image that I'd colored and hadn't gotten back to.  I was thinking it would make a quick simple card for this challenge.  I was wrong!  I picked a sketch out of my file and went to work.  Have you ever had one of those days where nothing you cut is straight or lines up the way you think it should?  That's what was happening while I was trying to make this card.  The image has a frame around it and I can't tell you how many times I cut around the frame trying to make it straight, then I cut the frame off when I discovered it was the frame that wasn't straight.
Sometimes being a perfectionist isn't any fun!

My layout is a sketch  from Verve Visual, papers are Mohawk Bright White, Via Vellum Basic Black, Neenah Red Pepper Linen, Stampin' Up! small paper pad from years ago and Copic X Press It.  I used part of a Hero Arts stamp for my sentiment, it actually says "Hello Girlfriend" and a Papertrey Ink double ended banner die.  Miss Cherry Kisses is colored with Copic markers R27, R24, R22, E00, E000, E0000, E44, E43, E42, BV0000, BV000, BV01, YR24, YR21, Y21, G82, G40, R21.

I hope you'll have time to play in our Midweek Throwdown challenge at Operation Write Home.

Cheery Lynn Designs Canadian Kaleidoscope Doily

I have a fun card to share today using Pollycraft's Evangeline along with some of my favorite dies from Cheery Lynn Designs and Spellbinders.

Evangeline is colored with Copic markers YR24, YR21, Y21, B24, B23, B21, YG17, YG13, YG11, R85, R83, R81, R21, E00, E000, E0000, BG0000.

My card layout was something I just kind of dreamed up.  I wanted to use the Cheery Lynn Designs Canadian Kaleidoscope Doily behind my circle frame but didn't feel like I had to use it all to have it look nice.  I trimmed about a quarter of it off and layered it behind my circle frame and under the blue panel.

The circle frame is made from Spellbinders circle dies, the flourishes are from the Doodle Parts Spellbinders set.  The cardstock I used is mostly from Sugar Shack, it's from The Paper Company's "In Full Bloom" textured value pack Linda sells.  The other papers are Neenah Solar White & Discount Cardstock's Royal Blue.  The little flowers are an EK Success punch and I added Dew Drops to the centers.  Almost forgot the Sizzix hearts embossing folder I used on the white panel.

Pollycraft Sonny's Party

I have a fun card using a free Pollycraft image today!  Pollycraft is offering 2 free images on their Tales From Pollycraft blog to use for a design team call or use however you'd like.  I chose to use the image called Sonny's Party because I enjoy coloring people.

She's colored with Copic markers E000, E00, E44, E43, E42, E41, G40, G82, R20, BV01, BV000, BV0000, B21, B23, C00, R27, R24, R22, YR24, YR21, Y21.  I cut her out with a Spellbinders Oval die using the out of the box technique.  I next layered my oval onto a Spellbinders Labels 14 that I embossed with a Cuttlebug dots embossing folder.

I was working on my card while some of my crafty friends were over and they were playing with the distress inks so I thought it would be fun to make a background with the distress inks.  I used Barn Door, Bundled Sage, Wild Honey and Dusty Concord on an old Stampin' Up! Canvas background stamp, rubbed a little more on the edges, spritzed the whole thing with water and waited for it to dry to see what I had.  The first one was pretty muddy but the second one turned out to be usable.

The sentiment is from the Digi Doodle Shop, a digital birthday set.  After printing it I cut it out with a Spellbinders Tags Trio die and matted it with SU Garden Green and rounded the corners with my new Corner Chomper 1/8th" corner punch.  Great tool!  For a finishing touch I added a button from an old stash of Stampin' Up! buttons threaded crochet thread through the holes and tied a little bow.

I hope you enjoyed my card today!  I just found out about the design team call for Pollycraft and it isn't open much longer so if you are interested you'll need to hurry!

Enjoying More Paper Crafting Challenges

It's Pollycraft Monday and I'm on my second blog post for the day.  That's okay I've been having fun making cards and there's one challenge that ends tonight, I really want to get my entry in before the deadline!   For my card I used the Tuesday Morning Sketch #45 but missed that deadline, it's still a great sketch!

Anyway the Pollycraft challenge is Summer Blooms.  I chose this cute digi stamp of theirs and colored it with Copic markers, cut a mask and air brushed the background.  This card is kind of out of my comfort zone, I don't feel like I'm good at using patterned papers.  Mostly because I don't have the card stock that matches or sometimes it's the markers.  I used the Basic Grey Urban Prairie paper pack I bought when I was a design team member with Clear Dollar Stamps two years ago.  Stepping out of your comfort zone is the challenge over at Tuesday Taggers and the deadline to enter is later today.

Then there's a challenge over at The Crazy Challenge that started today and you're supposed to use something new.  Look what Mr. Brown brought me today!
I don't have to use air cans anymore for my air brush - yea!

I can't believe how nice this air compressor works.  I'm not used to having the same air pressure through out the process, it sure gives a nice even spray.  Quiet too.

Have a happy Monday and I'll talk with you again soon~
