I have a gorgeous wire woven Tiffany Stone cabochon pendant necklace to share with you today.

The cabochon have been wire woven using copper wire and a few accent beads.  It's been antiqued and polished to bring out the beauty of the copper then treated to protect and maintain the finish I've given it.

Tiffany Stone is also called Bertrandite and is mined in only one location in western Utah.  A beautiful sought after stone that is opalized Flourite or Opalite.

Wire Weave Tutorial, Burro Creek Agate

I see by the date on my last post it's been 4 months since I've posted content here.  I apologize and hope you'll forgive my absence, my husband and I have been working on making jewelry and out selling during our beautiful Arizona winter season.  Our season has come to an end with the day time temperatures now in the 90's.  It's time to keep making and learn and experiment with new things!

Today's post is a picture tutorial of how to make this wire woven pendant.  I haven't made this type of pendant very long and I'm enjoying the process.  I'm learning new weaves for it and how to incorporate different fancy designs for the front of the pendant through experimentation and practice.

This is a side view of the finished pendant, the stone is a Burro Creek Agate that is local to our area.  It comes from a wilderness area located between Kingman & Prescott, Arizona.

The tutorial assumes the maker already knows how to do the different weaves I've used.

On to the tutorial:

I hope you enjoyed the picture tutorial and have fun working on a new pendant of your own.  Any questions or comments I'll respond to as soon as I can.

Copper Wire Weave Necklace in Azurite & Malachite

I mentioned last week that I'd made this necklace from a tutorial I'd discovered on Pinterest and thought I should share it with you today.  You can visit Rukodel's blog for the full tutorial.

This necklace is made using Azurite/Malachite semi precious gemstones and Copper Wire.  The new technique I learned is really fun to do and learning from this tutorial by Rukodel was very rewarding for me.  I love the finished piece.

The finished necklace inspired me to make a matching bracelet and earrings.  I had Azurite Malachite in round gemstone beads so I figured I'd play some more.  I didn't get a photo of the earrings, I do like how they turned out but they seem a little heavy to me.  One day they may become a couple more bracelets like the one above.

Aqua Terra Wire Weave Necklace

I have my second wire weave pendant today!

I took a class online earlier this month to learn how to make wire woven pendants.  More info about that in this blog post.  This particular pendant is Aqua Terra Jasper and has a very small hole drilled in the top making it difficult to make a fancy bail for.  And, it's time to learn new skills and techniques!  I used a tight basket type weave for the bezel portion pictured below.

For the bail I went back to the figure eight weave I'd learned in the first class because I really like the look.  After the pendant was finished I made a matching necklace chain using Aqua Terra Jasper stone beads and copper wire adding in some fancy figure eight links.  The next step in the process is antiquing and polishing.  I love the way antiqued copper looks so it's my preference for most jewelry pieces I make.  The very last step is to treat the copper to maintain and protect the finish I've given it.

There you have it, my second wire woven pendant!

Entangled Bead Wire Bracelet with Aqua Terra Jasper

Today's Project -

A bracelet using Aqua Terra Jasper, Copper and a new (to me) wire wrap/weave technique from a tutorial by a very generous artist I first saw on Pinterest.

You can find the tutorial at Rukodel's blog.  The tutorial is actually for a beautiful necklace which I've made and haven't shared yet.  From that I was inspired to make this bracelet.

Here it is all stretched out.  I used a large oval Aqua Terra Jasper gemstone for a center focal piece then added smaller round gemstones tying it all together with triple wrapped links and finishing with a copper lobster claw closure and extra copper jump rings on the other end to make it adjustable in length.  I love Aqua Terra Jasper and I'm quite happy with my finished project.

Crazy Lace - Laguna Lace Agate Wire Wrap Necklace

I've been fascinated with Crazy Lace Agates lately and discovered there are also Laguna Lace Agates that are equally as beautiful.  The natural colors in some are really stunning.

Here's a little information I found online:  Crazy lace agate, also known as Mexican agate, is an attractive, white, opaque stone, patterned like a beautiful, multicolored paisley cloth you want to wrap around you. It is a cryptocrystalline quartz, found in Mexico.

For this stone I made a fancy wire wrapped bail and for the necklace chain I added three Crazy Lace Agate round stones on each side.  It's all done in Copper that's been antiqued and polished then treated to maintain and protect the finish I gave it.

Unisex Twisted Bracelets in Copper

Today's Project!

I'm still working on learning new techniques in jewelry making.  Today's project is a video tutorial via University of YouTube by Lan Anh Handmade.  I'd seen this bracelet before and thought it was really nice, in one of my Facebook groups there was a link to the tutorial by a generous artist who is willing to share her gifts & talents.

I used copper wire because that's what I have the most of and what I like to work with.  I've done this type of weaving before so I chose to use dead soft wire in 18 gauge and 20 gauge.  My sweet hubby Rick found some dead soft 22 gauge copper wire for me in our stash so I switched to a little finer wire after my first experiment.

So far I've made five of these and feel like I still need practice to get the shape uniform.  As with everything the more you practice your skills the better they'll get.

I'm off to practice my skills & hope you have an amazing day!

Craftsy Class by Dawn Horner

Today's Project -
I've been wanting to learn new wire wrapping/weaving techniques and stopped today for an online class.
In this class by Dawn Horner on Craftsy I learned how to do a figure eight weave to make a bezel and bail for a cabochon (un-drilled stone). This Rhyolite Pendant is my finished project and it gives me all kinds of ideas for other pendants!
I really enjoyed the class, it comes in a video format so you can watch as many times as you'd like or need. She's very thorough and you'll have a finished piece at the end of the class.

Here's the back, I've always wondered about the back of a piece and how everything is held in place.
Now I know!

Copper Wire Wrap Bail

I've been learning and practicing my wire wrapping skills again.  This is a Red Fire Agate that I added a fancy bail to for a pendant.  I learned how to make the bail from a book that I refer back to a lot.  Handcraft Wire Jewelry by Kimberly Sciafaffa Berlin.

After making the pendant I added an antiqued mesh ready made copper necklace chain.
It's gorgeous in real life and I'm quite happy with the way it turned out!

Beginners Wire Wrap Rhyolite Pendant

Last Saturday I decided to treat myself to learning a new technique, a wire weaving tutorial on YouTube by OxanaCrafts.  I'm still pretty new at wire wrapping/weaving and want to learn all I can and improve my skills so I thought one of her beginner tutorials would be fun.

This is actually my second wrapped pendant using her tutorial.  The first one turned out nice so I was excited to try it again and made a pendant for me!  I had a couple of Rhyolite coin beads in my stash of goodies that were a good size for this and I love Rhyolite.

My first photo is a side view where the wire work shows up the most for a good look at the weave.

My second photo shows the pendant as you'd see it on me but the actual weave is a little hidden.  The black cord the pendant is on is made by me too.  I added copper ends to it and use it as my go to "chain" for a lot of pendants I wear.

Rhyolite is a semi precious gem stone that is formed by volcanic activity, a common volcanic rock that has a very similar chemical equivalent of granite.  I like the different shades of green in each piece and the clear glassy matrix.

African Opal & Copper Jewelry

We are in the midst of our outdoor event season here in Arizona and it's great to see old friends and meet new ones.  One of those old friends asked if I wanted to go to a gem and mineral show early on a Sunday morning while we were set up in Lake Havasu City at the swap meet.  I really wanted to go but didn't want to leave my husband Rick all by himself so I declined the invitation.

We waited till we were on our way home to stop by the gem and mineral show and with Marie's direction visited the booth where she acquired all her goodies.

I discovered African Opal that day, also known as Aqua Terra Jasper.  It's a gorgeous pale blue green semi precious gem stone with a cream, brown and coppery matrix.  The more I work with this stone the more I love it!

I think this photo of the bracelet shows the colors better.

And a pair of African Opal earrings to tie it all together.

Antiqued Copper Bracelet

This copper bracelet is a piece my husband Rick made recently.
It features an unknown semi precious gemstone from my Grandmother's stash, copper, brass & nickel silver rivets and eyelets.  Hand forged pieces and parts to secure the snakes.

Copper & Lampwork Bead Wire Earrings

I have a pair of Copper & Red Lampwork Bead earrings to share today.
I love lampwork beads but don't use them very often in my jewelry because of the expense.  If I ever learn to make them you'll see them in everything I make!

I used copper jump rings to connect to ready made hoops by Tierra Cast then added a couple of small copper beads with my pretty red lampwork beads for a fun pair of earrings.  These earrings have been treated with ProtectaClear to preserve the finish I gave them.

Perfect for the Christmas season in bright red!  They are available for sale in our ArizonaCopperCraft Etsy shop too.

Kingman Turquoise - Boulder Turquoise Necklace & Earrings

I bought 3 big rectangular Boulder Turquoise Beads when we shopped at Colbaugh Processing back in September.  I love the look of them but they were too large for a necklace link in my opinion.  To me they looked like they should be a pendant so that's what I tried with them using wire weaving and wrapping.

Of course they needed a necklace so I made up several Triple Loop Links and combined them with 8 mm Boulder Turquoise beads.  It's a big bold necklace with that size bead but I like it and I know there are other ladies out there who will too.

I antiqued the copper then polished and shined it & added a protective finish using ProtectaClear to preserve the patina I gave it.

I also made a pair of matching earrings using the 8 mm Boulder Turquoise Beads and the Triple Loop Links I created.

Kingman Turquoise - Boulder Turquoise Necklace

I have a few rectangular shaped Boulder Turquoise Beads that are quite large.  I purchased them to see if I could make pendants using them.  For this pendant I used wire weaving and wrapping.  I'm not sure I'm thrilled with my wire work but I love the piece of turquoise so I'm going to wear this one.  For the necklace I used 8 mm matching Boulder Turquoise beads and added a few Triple Loop Links that I learned how to make from "The Missing Link" book by Cindy Wimmer.

All the copper has been antiqued and polished to bring out the warmth and beauty of the metal then sealed with ProtectaClear to preserve the patina I gave it.

Using the 8 mm beads gives this necklace a bit of weight, not too much but you know you have it on when you first start wearing it.

Copper & Quartz Wire Wrapped Pendant

Wire Wrapped Quartz Pendant

If you've been keeping up here with me you know I've been experimenting with wire wrapping techniques. This is a pendant I made not too long ago that I'm pretty happy with. It's one of my firsts so I'll probably be the person wearing it and enjoying it on a handmade black satin necklace cord.

My second attempt at a wire wrapped pendant is very similar, you know what they say about practicing!  For this pendant I added a 3mm 18" ready made mesh copper necklace chain that compliments it nicely.

A little closer view of the pendant, it has a small streak of Carnelian through the bottom left edge and is rather translucent.

Wire Wrapped Copper & Rhodonite Necklace

Do you like pink? I think pink in a natural semi precious gemstone is really cool. A lot of the ladies that buy our jewelry are looking for color and this stone definitely has that!

Rhodonite has a very distinct pink or rose red color base, stones that contain a black or colored matrix (veining) are more popular than the more uniform pink stones.

Rhodonite is similar to Rose Quartz being a silicate/quartz composite. But manganese is what brings out the rosy color that Rhodonite is known for. This semi precious gemstone is found in several areas in the USA.

Rhodonite is believed by some to reduce stress and calm one's mind bringing a sense of well being to the person who wears it.

This was a fun necklace to make!  Using copper wire I made a wire wrapped bail and finished it with some curls.  Then made a matching necklace using Rhodonite gemstone beads and more copper wire.  For the links I mirrored the curly design to bring it all together.

The necklace has a hook and eye hand forged closure you can see in this photo if you look closely on the left side down in the shells.   The copper has been antiqued and polished to bring out the natural beauty of the metal then treated with ProtectaClear to preserve the finish.

A close up of just the pendant.
