Bugaboo Stamps Spring Stuff Bee

I had so much fun making this Operation Write Home Stars & Stamps sketch challenge card!

I always find card layouts with more than one focal point to be challenging and fun.  When I first saw this sketch I went looking through my Paper Smooches stamp sets but didn't find anything quite right, then Bugaboo Stamps popped into my head.  I was on their design team at one time and have lots of their cute digital images!  Using a digital image was nice because I can make it any size I want after deciding which one to use.  I chose this little bee from Bugaboo's Spring Stuff collection because it's cute and would be simple to color multiple times.

I cut the bees out with a Spellbinders square die before I colored them.  I usually live dangerously and color first, cut last.  I matted the bees with Astrobrights Eclipse Black and the yellow panel is Astrobrights Galaxy Gold that I wrapped with a Black organdy ribbon and set aside.  My sentiment is from Hambo Stamps and is perfect for my card, I'm so happy I have it - I'm out of ink in my Ink Jet printer... After stamping the sentiment I put the Mohawk Bright White panel through the Cuttlebug using the Swiss Dots embossing folder rounded the corners and attached it to the Eclipse Black card body, then assembled my card.

The bees are colored with Copic markers:

Y13, Y15, Y17
T3, T5, T7, R21
BG0000, BG000, B01

I'm off to color more cute bees, I printed six of them too large for this sketch so you'll probably being seeing more bees in the future!  I did order some new embossing folders from E Bay that should go with them too.

Bee sure to check out our Operation Write Home Midweek Throwdown challenge that starts today, I don't have a card ready yet...

Since I submitted the card for publication I have a supply list:

Copic markers:  Hearts – R35, R46, R59, Basket – E30, E33, E37, E47, Background – BG0000, BG11

Hambo Stamps Plate Spinner

I have a fun Hambo Hoedown card to share with you using Hambo Stamps Plate Spinner, isn't he cute?!  The challenge is to make a round card and add spirals and/or swirls.  My embossing folder has beautiful swirls on it but is pretty covered up so I had fun making paper spirals using a Q Tip that was on the table.  You know one of those left overs from coloring with my Copic markers that's till too good to throw away!

I used Spellbinders Grands Circles to make my card base and regular Ovals to cut out my cute image.
The Plate Spinner is colored with Copic markers:

N7, N5, N3, N1
E00, E01, E11, R21
BG45, BG49
E43, E42
B60, B63
BG0000

I hope you'll stop by the Hambo Hoedown and see all the fun cards from our design team and accept the challenge too!

Hambo Stamps Name That 'Toon

Welcome to our Hambo "Name That Toon" blog hop!

If you are following along in the hop you should have arrived from Dawn's blog Sunnyside Up if not the beginning is at Talk To The Ham.
The challenge for this blog hop is to create a project that represents and depicts a comic strip!
Maybe it’s your favorite one you read as a kid like mine!

I was a little girl in the 1960's can you guess from looking at my card my favorite Sunday newspaper comic?

That's right Family Circus!  Do you remember Dolly, Billy and Jeffy?

I used Hambo Stamps Dress Up for my take on Dolly & Billy's dress up play.
I colored this cute rubber stamped image with Copic markers:

Dress/Tie/Hat - Y13, Y15, Y17
Shirt/Purse/Hatband - B63, B60
Flowers R35, R46
Hair & Skin - E35, E37, E39, E55, E49, D57, E59, E00, E01, E11
Jacket/Hat - N1, N3, N5
Background - BG000, BG11, BG23
and kept the layout simple just like in the cartoon.

A prize will be awarded to one participant whose comic strip-themed creation tickles the Bacon Bits’ fancy in a hammin’ jammin’ way!  Another prize will be awarded randomly to a hopper who comments on all of the blogs along the way. The winners will be announced on the Hambo company blog, Talk to the Ham, on Wednesday, January 23, as well as at the Hambo Hoedown challenge blog. We love comments anytime, but the deadline for prize entry comments is Sunday, January 26 at 5 PM CST. Don't miss it!

The next stop on our hope is Jane, enjoy!

Hambo Stamps Refrigerator

Are you ready for this week's Hambo Hoedown!

If you played along last week you received the Hambo Stamps Refrigerator in your e mail and just found out the challenge is to use "Left Overs", lol.

I have the usual pile of scraps beside my paper trimmer so I went through them and found these digital papers I'd printed, polka dots and zebra stripes and thought oh boy here we go!  I decided I'd like my new refrigerator to be red so I printed it on Neenah Red Pepper Linen card stock and cut it out.  I reprinted it on Stampin' Up! Basic Gray and again on Mohawk Bright White to be able to cut out the details.  I used a few Copic markers to add color to the school art work and cut out my sentiment with a Die-namics Fishtail Flags die.  My layout is Splitcoast Stampers sketch #418.

We were asked if we'd show where our left overs came from too:

A couple of cards I made for my Operation Write Home box using another favorite Splitcoast Stampers sketch.

Hambo Stamps Penguin Snowball

Are you ready for this week's Hambo Hoedown?!

The challenge is to use felt on your cards along with this cute Hambo Stamps digital Penguin Snowball set or any other Hambo Stamp you may have.

I knew I had felt I'd stashed somewhere and I found it.  I had a few different colors to choose from and picked this one because if I were a Copic marker I'd be a part of the Blue Green family!
This cute penguin is colored with Copic markers:

Hat & Scarf - BG53, BG45, BG49
Hat trim, beak & feet - Y13, Y15, Y17
Penguin Black - N3, N5, N7
Snow - G0000

I didn't know if my Die-namics Chevron die would cut through the felt so I tested it out and was very pleased.  I also tried cutting it with my paper trimmer but couldn't get a nice straight cut so I gave up on that idea.  My layout is Operation Write Home's sketch challenge #153 flipped.

I've been thinking about challenging myself to complete all of the Operation Write Home sketch challenges for 2013...  I know it's a lofty goal, what do you think?

My cardstock choices are Astrobrights Eclipse Black & Galaxy Gold as well as Copic X Press It blending card for the coloring.  I put a full sheet of the Astrobrights Galaxy Gold through my printer to add the sentiment to my card front.  Don't you just love digital stamps!!  The felt came from Papertrey Ink and I used a Die-namics Cheveron die as well as my trusty We R Memory Keepers 1/8th inch Corner Chomper.

Hambo Stamps Pheasant

I have a new appreciation for pheasants...  I bet you didn't know that about me!

Our challenge for the Hambo Hoedown this week is to use the Hambo Stamps Pheasant you received in your e mail for playing along with last weeks challenge or any Hambo Stamps rubber or digital stamps and using the colors hot pink, aqua, lime green, bright yellow and or orange.
Actually three of those colors will be good.

I had my image in advance and needed to think on it for awhile.
Monday I "googled" pheasants, the first thing to come up was recipes...
then I clicked images and then I had to read and learn more about them.
Next step was coloring with Copic markers,
I wasn't sure I could do this beautiful bird justice but I tried.
Here are the Copic markers I used:

B0000, B01
E50, E53
BG11, BG13, YG13
YG01, YG13, R14, R24
E23, YR23, Y35, Y32, V01, R24, R35, R46

The colors I used for this Hambo Hoedown challenge are Aqua, Lime Green & Bright Yellow as well as a mixture of some of the others.
The hot pink just didn't feel right to me so I didn't use any.

I hope you'll dance on over to the Hambo Hoedown and see all the Pheasant inspiration for our challenge this week and answer the call of the challenge.

Am I the only one who gets side tracked when given an unusual image to color?

Hambo Stamps Bailey Christmas

We have a new Hambo Hoedown starting today!

The theme is Anything Goes using a Hambo Stamp, the free stamp set we received for playing in the last challenge is called Bailey Christmas.  Isn't he cute?!

I decided to make a quick gift tag using Bailey and one of the sentiments from this set.  He's colored with Copic markers and the tag is an old Sizzix red die I kept.

I hope you'll play in our Hambo Hoedown this week!

See you again soon, I'm enjoying some family time with my hubby and kids -

Hambo Stamps Southwest

I'm back in the Hambo Hoedown again!

Our digital image for this week's Hambo Hoedown is called Southwest and the challenge theme is to use this image or any Hambo Stamps image/rubber stamp and make a masculine card.  I added Hambo Stamps Rattler digital image and sentiment to my scene.

I live in western Arizona where beautiful sunsets, picturesque mountains and rattle snakes can be seen almost any time but was kind of stumped on how to go about coloring this image.  I printed it twice and jumped right in and somehow it came to life on it's own, or so it seems.

I kept my card simple to show off the scene.  The scene is colored on Copic X Press It, layered onto Via Vellum Black and added to a Astrobrights Solar Yellow card base.

I hope you'll play along in the Hambo Hoedown with us this week!

Hambo Stamps Skater Girl

I feel a little slow getting back into my groove after the Thanksgiving holiday.  The kids are back in school so it's time for Mom to get back to creating fun stuff before they get home!

My card today is for the Splitcoast Stampers Clean & Simple challenge 198, "Inspired by a quote".
The quote is from Galileo - "I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night".

I looked at the design team and CAS198 gallery for inspiration and loved design team member Kelly Collins card so I C.A.S.E.d it using Hambo Stamps Skater Girl and Hambo Stamps Whee Wish You... rubber stamps.  I hope she's flattered!

I colored Skater Girl with Copic markers:
Dress/Hat - YR04, YR16, R17, R27, R0000
Skin - E000, E00, E01, E11
Scarf/Gloves - E42, E43, B23
Skates - B0000, C1

I had fun combining the Copic Yellow/Reds with the Red Copic markers for her dress and hat.  The idea for the color combination came from my color wheel - one of my favorite color combinations is this blue and orange but I wanted her to be a little more the color of Christmas.

I have a couple of old color wheels and I especially like this one because it has different color combinations using coordinating & complimentary colors.

Here's a close up for you, the top color is Ballet Blue.

So my paper choices are Mohawk Bright White, Discount Card Stock's Royal Blue, Stampin' Up! Brushed Gold & Copic X Press It.  The embossing folder is by The Paper Studio, the gold star is a punch and I dug out my Stampin' Up! Night of Navy stamp pad for the sentiment.  Oh, the white ice skating "pond" is made from a Spellbinders Mega Ovals die and trimmed to fit the front panel.

I used Hambo Stamps #2902 Mushrooms & #2909 Real Fun-gal for my image and sentiment and had fun coloring with Copic markers:

Outlines/Background - B0000, B01, YG11, YG23
Mushrooms - E41, E42, E43, E33, E49, E30, E31, E33, E39

I used three different embossing folders for added interest and texture.  The card stock colors I used are Hero Arts layering card stock Pool & Mango, Neenah Kraft, Via Vellum Black, Copic X Press It.

Hambo Stamps Reindeer Gift

Happy Saturday!
I feel a little behind from being sick last week with a flu bug and Thanksgiving is rushing towards us next week, yikes!  It seems our Arizona weather has cooled from the triple digits and all of a sudden everything is in fast forward - I suppose I'm exaggerating a little...

I have a fun card to share with you today using the Hambo Stamps Reindeer Gift and Merry On rubber stamps.  I colored the reindeer with Copic markers:

Reindeer - E42, E43, E44, RV10, N3, N5
Jacket - R35, R46, R59
Gift - G24, G28, Y00, Y04, Y15
Background/Outline - B0000, B01

For papers I used Basic Grey Jovial paper pad combined with Copic X Press It and Neenah Red Pepper Linen card stock.  I added an envelope liner to make it a little more fancy.

Have you heard?!  Tomorrow is Tim's birthday and our Hambo Stamps design team is starting the celebration a day early!!

Happy Birthday Timbo!!

We were asked to make a birthday card this week because he DRAWS all these delightfully fun images!

I used Hambo Stamps Lawn Mower for my card, the Mower Love sentiment and I also used the birthday sentiment from the Dr. Needle digital stamp set for my card.

I colored this cute image with Copic markers:

R35, R46, R59, C1, T2, T5, B0000, B01

Hambo Stamps Snowman Sled

I have a fun Hambo Stamps card to share with you today!

I used Copic markers to color this fun stamp:

BG000, BG11, BG23
YR04, YR07, YR09
N1, N3, N5
C0, C1, C2
B0000, B01

I kept my layout nice and simple using Hero Arts layering paper in Pool, Via Vellum Black to mat my focal panel and Copic X Press it for coloring.  My snowflake is made using a die as well as the button,  I rounded the corners to soften the edges and thought I was finished.

I picked up my card and noticed there was a brown speck on the upper left corner so I brushed it off and it left a spot, oh no!  I've been playing with making homemade candles recently so I think that's what it might have been.  That's when I decided to add the white pearls.  I covered the smear with the first white pearl, then used my ruler to imitate the line of the snowman sledding down the hill so I could place my other pearls to mimic/duplicate that line.  Black dots would have worked for me too but for some reason I went with white.  Whew... nice save (=
